Job Description :
- Permanent position for a Principal Engineer who is responsible for the mechanical design and development of complex medical devices.
- Apply advanced engineering practices and knowledge of diverse manufacturing processes to develop new products.
- Develop large, complex assemblies with integrated mechanics, electronics, motion systems and fluid / gas dynamics.
- Perform classical and advanced engineering analysis, CAD design and laboratory activities.
- Review and help to develop product specifications
- Create conceptual design solutions.
- Collaborate with electrical, systems and software engineers.
- Collaborate with program management, marketing, regulatory affairs, quality, manufacturing, industrial design.
- Communicate complex topics effectively to stakeholders.
- Perform detailed mechanical development using MCAD design and engineering tools.
- Develop protocols, analyze data and prepare reports for verification and validation activities.
- Support supply chain, manufacturing and sustaining engineering functions.
- Coordinate the mechanical design schedule with the cross-functional program team.
- Develop prototype hardware using internal manufacturing resources as well as outside vendors.
- Supports outside testing agencies.
- Generates documentation and change orders for design transfer to manufacturing.
- Mentor junior engineers in the performance of their assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications :
- BS Engineering or Physics
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience in design and product development of electromechanical assemblies including technical supervision of projects or sub-projects
- Advanced knowledge of FDA, IEC and UL standards relating to medical electronic equipment
- Advanced knowledge of the design, analysis and manufacturing of complex, multi-physics mechanical systems.
- Experience with statistical methods and robust design principles.
- Experience establishing requirements, design inputs, assessing complex tradeoffs.
- Experience communicating complex ideas cross-functionally to support critical decision making.
